Join us for a celebration of Latin music and culture! BW’s Spanish and Latinx Student Association (S.A.L.S.A.) will host a reception at 7pm in Gamble Lobby. The BW Jazz Ensemble—featuring Dr. Gabriel Piqué, director—will begin their performance at 8pm.
The Spanish and Latinx Student Association, also known as SALSA, is a multicultural/diversity organization sponsored by Student Government and the Center for Inclusion. This organization is open to all students on campus and is led by a student executive board and co-advisors Jay T. Hairston II and Carmen Castro-Rivera.
SALSA’s mission is to Empower, Embrace, and Engage with Latinx Culture. SALSA offers cultural events, general meetings, and educational activities to the BW community to increase community awareness, support incoming students, combat discrimination, and provide a safe space for the Hispanic/Latinx presence on campus. Most recently, six BW students represented SALSA at the 2023 United States Hispanic Leadership Institute National Conference in Chicago. More information about SALSA and upcoming events can be found online via Jacket Connect and on Instagram @bwsalsa.
If you are unable to log in simultaneously to the live performance, the recording typically remains available throughout the remainder of the day, so you will be able to enjoy the program that evening as well.
