Maestro Oltman’s handprint on the Conservatory, its students and its faculty is legendary. He referred to his leadership of the BW Bach Festival for nearly 4 decades as “the highlight of my years.” His impact upon the musical landscape of Northeast Ohio was exemplary: Maestro Oltman founded the Ohio Chamber Orchestra in 1972, served as Music Director and Conductor of the Cleveland Ballet Orchestra for 24 years, then led the Ballet San Jose Orchestra for 12 years. He collaborated with the great musical artists, choreographers and orchestras of his time, and we honor his memory with fondness and deep respect.
