At Jones Music Library, we are proud to offer the Baldwin Wallace community access to our collection of over 40,000 physical items and digital resources. Jones Library is a fantastic resource for students looking for help with research, finding scores, accessing technology, or who just want a welcoming study space.

Jones Music Library is known for our huge collection of scores and sheet music, which are available for BW students to check out at no cost. Our collection strengths include solo and chamber music, opera and voice, music education, music therapy, and music theater. Jones Library can provide students with high quality and definitive editions of music that can’t be found on free websites like IMSLP.

Our collection is not just limited to sheet music. We also provide access to many helpful digital resources. At our Jones Library website, you can get free access to several databases and streaming services. One popular streaming service is  Met Opera On Demand, where you have free access to more than 800 recorded performances from the Metropolitan Opera. Also check out our subscription to the Naxos Music Library and the Naxos Video Library, databases of high-quality music recordings, performances, and educational documentaries.

At Jones, we also have a lot of helpful technology available. You can check out Surfaces or iPads for up to two weeks. You can also check out recording equipment like USB microphones, which you can attach to your own personal devices, or to one of ours. Our free digital scanner is always available for making digital copies.

All our student workers are happy to help you navigate our catalog and locate the materials you’re looking for. Just come up to one of our help desks located in the front of the library and ask for whatever assistance you need.

If we don’t have an item in our collection, we can get it sent to you quickly and at no cost. The BW libraries participate in an interlibrary loan program, which means BW students can also check out materials from libraries across Ohio. Request materials from other libraries online via the Ohiolink catalogue or by asking our student workers for help.

Jones Music Library is much more than a place to check out materials. We also have plenty of quiet study spaces and a staff that is committed to helping students in their research process.

You can meet with our head librarian Paul Cary, who can help connect you with resources about even the most specific and obscure topics. All you need to do is set up an appointment online. Also, check out our research guides on specific aspects of music

We also have a special listening room dedicated to music appreciation. Our soundproof listening room is equipped with a vinyl record player, a television, a Blu-ray player, a computer that can be used for streaming, and a high-quality sound system. There’s no need to bring your own vinyl records or DVDs because we also have a sizable collection of records and filmed operas available for checking out.
